The Next Apple Event: Dates, News, Rumors, and Announcements

Apple's next event will probably be about iPhones

Apple holds events several times each year to announce new products and services including the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and spring and fall events that usually zero in on certain products.

A random extra event can pop up, too.

What Is the Next Apple Event?

Apple's next event will likely fall sometime in September and be about hardware, specifically iPhones, and maybe the next Apple Watch.

When Was the Last Apple Event?

The most recent one was the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote on June 10.

How to Attend the Event

Apple offers a free live stream to everyone; you can view it online at apple.com or on the Apple TV app. Crank up your PC or mobile device and connect to see what the tech giant has to show.

What Announcements Will Apple Make?

Apple usually reserves software announcements for the summer WWDC event and introduces new hardware in the fall, typically in September. Here's what we anticipate learning more about at the fall event.

iPhone 16

We're due for a new iPhone, the iPhone 16. Like its predecessors, we suspect the iPhone 16 will come in several variations. The model lineup will likely include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. We could also see the announcement of a premium iPhone 16 Ultra that slots above the Pro Max level.

While some hallmarks, like the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes, will probably remain in place, rumored design enhancements in the iPhone 16 roster, include:

  • A switch to in-display Face ID
  • Vertical camera layout
  • The addition of a Capture button

Apple Watch X

We may also see an updated Apple Watch during the September announcements. There's no known name for the next iteration, but it might be called the Apple Watch Series 10, as it would follow the Apple Watch Series 9.

If it follows the Series 9's footsteps, we expect two versions of the watch, 41mm and 45mm, and the usual offering of cellular connectivity and upgraded case materials for extra.

However, according to Bloomber's Mark Gurman, this next watch could be the most comprehensive overhaul to the device, in commemoration of the Apple Watch's 10th anniversary.

What Was Announced at the June 2024 Event?

Apple's WWDC event introduced a slew of new software upgrades with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI). That lineup included vision OS 2, the first major update to the operating system running the Vision Pro headset.

We also saw all of the updates about iOS 18, watchOS 11, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 (called Sequoia), and tvOS 18. The big news, however, was Apple Intelligence, an AI platform that will run through Siri along with all of the operating systems on compatible software (iPhone 15 Pro and later, along with Macs and iPods with Apple Silicon).
